Windmill 'Molen Hunsingo' is an ideal base for exploring the region called 'the Hoogeland'. The region offers great walking, cycling and sailing opportunities. Enjoy the great landscape with its canals, green nature, castles and old farms, but also the ancient villages built on small hills to protect themselves against the rising water in earlier days. Information about bike-, walk- and canoe routes and rental of canoes and bicycles is available at the mill. The village of Onderdendam is ideal situated between the city of Groningen and the northern coast. Day-trips to Groningen or one of the islands close to the northern coast are just some of the many possibilities.

Other attractions in the neighborhood are the seal crèche in Pieterburen, the 'Hoogeland' museum in Warffum, Abraham's mustard museum in Eenrum and the tea factory in Houwerzijl. The surrounding area of Onderdendam also has several great restaurants where you can enjoy a good dinner.
